The Pushkin Memorial Country House Museum was opened in 1958 in the town of Pushkin (formerly Tsarskoye Selo) in the house, constructed in 1827 (era of late classicism), which has preserved its architectural appearance.

The uniqueness of the Country House Museum, preserved by time and fate, lies first of all in the fact that it is located in an authentic wooden house on high basements with a veranda and a balcony in the mezzanine. The house belonged to A. Kitaeva, the widow of the court chamberlain. From May to mid-October 1831, the poet and his young wife spent the best months of their family life there, enjoying their time with friends and family and walking around the Catherine Park and the outskirts of Tsarskoye Selo.

The rooms' interiors, recreated according to the memories of contemporaries, as well as the materials presented in the museum’s exposition tell about Pushkin’s life and work of this time. In the mezzanine of the house, the walls of which remember Pushkin, the poet’s study, where many of his masterpieces were written, is recreated. A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to the N.M. Karamzin and V.A. Zhukovsky, Pushkin’s senior contemporaries’ and literary mentors’ stay in Tsarskoye Selo.

The museum organizes temporary exhibitions, literary evenings and concerts as well as presentations of various books.
