G.M. Grechko, a native of Leningrad, a pilot-cosmonaut of twice Hero of the Soviet Union, was installed on the Alley of Heroes of Moscow Victory Park on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of March 16, 1978.

G. M. Grechko worked three times (in 1975, 1977-1978 and 1985) in space, at the Soviet Salyut orbital stations.
His bust as a native of Leningrad was placed in Victory Park by sculptor Yu. S. Dines and architect M.M. Volkov, opened on April 12, 1983. Like other busts on the alley, the pedestal reproduces the text of the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on awarding the second star of the Hero.
