A magnificent combination of spirituality and architectural skill.
The Peter and Paul Church in Sestroretsk is an integral part of the history of St.Petersburg and Russia.

The first wooden church in Sestroretsk was built in 1722-1723 and subsequently dismantled. In 1781, a stone church was erected, but it burned down in 1868. The new temple was built as a tribute to Russian submariners and is a place of remembrance. According to legend, it was here, on Lake Razliv, in the period from 1721 to 1725, where the first prototype of a submarine, known as the "hidden vessel", was tested. Nowadays, everyone who visits this temple has the opportunity to consider the layout of the "hidden vessel", also known as the “Nikonov barrel”.

One of the most interesting features of the Peter and Paul Church is its wooden design. Inside, the Church features wooden iconostases. They are true works of art of Russian wood carving as well as important historical artifacts.
