Malyshchitsky Chamber Theater (KTM)

#

41, Vosstaniya st.

#

A tiny hall which accommodates immense artistic freedom, a place where drama school is merged with European-level stage-direction in daring and sometimes rather eccentric but undoubtedly vibrant productions

The theater first opened its doors to sophisticated St. Petersburg audiences in 1989. Alongside with the Theater on the Fontanka, this Chamber Theater is one of the projects of an outstanding director - Vladimir Afanasyevich Malyshchitsky. A bold and uncompromising director has created a unique small space which allows to speak a modern language straight to the viewer. The hall accommodates only three rows of seats.

Here on the stage today you can see plays made by young modern playwrights. The theatre is the place where classical performances find a new and sometimes unexpected interpretation. For more than 10 years the theater has been living without its founder but remains faithful to his creative views. The main director of the theater, Fyodor Shereshevsky, maintains the image of a neo-modern theater with his extraordinary, bold and sharp productions, performed by young actors, each of whom being an artist fills every character or story with something personal and new.
