A young theatre with an unusual approach to its performances, turning a classical theatre into a real creative laboratory, allowing its viewers to immerse themselves into the events which take place on stage

First the Theatre of Drama Improvisations was officially registered as a charitable public organization in December 1998, later the theatre became a full participant in the cultural life of St. Petersburg. The theatre began its artistic way in 1982 with an experimental group "Theatre Workshop" organized by the students from High Trade Union School of Culture under the leadership of master P.P. Podervyansky.

Almost all performances in the theatre go without intermission, and the stage for performances is all open scaffolds. It allows the viewer to be deeply involved, to live the lives of the characters during the performance. The theatre's fairly wide repertoire includes both adult and children's performances based on the works of Ostrovsky, Chekhov, Ershov, Charles Perrault, Volodin, Mikhalkov, etc.

The theatre has organized many studios for children and adults, there is a studio that educates improvising actors. The theatre constantly takes part in specialized exhibitions and festivals, for example: "Cat in a Bag," "Night of Museums," "Theatres of St. Petersburg for Children," etc.
