The activities of The State Russian Museum and Exhibition Centre ROSPHOTO, founded in 2002, embrace exhibitions, scientific research and educational programs.

The Centre exhibits works of well known national and international masters of photography, as well as young talented artists working in the genres of contemporary art closely connected with photography: video-art, photographic installations, animation, experimental cinema.

With approximately fifty exhibitions a year, many of the Centre's projects are developed in cooperation with reputable international organizations such as Goethe Institute (Germany), Mondriaan Foundation (the Netherlands), Nordic Cultural Foundation (Denmark), French Institute, Danish Culture Institute.

ROSPHOTO exhibition halls are situated in Bolshaya Morskaya street, near the St. Isaac’s Square, in a 19 century house constructed initially for Russia insurance company. Two exhibition halls on the 2 and 3 floor (300 and approx.200 sq.m) can be accessed from the street, one more (150 sq.m) from the courtyard. 

Beside exhibitions, the spaces host various cultural events like lectures, presentations, seminars and conferences. ROPSHOTO holds a bookshop, first specialized bookshop of the kind in St.Petersburg
