Theatre of Polytechnic University of Peter the Great

In the beginning of the 1970-s following the initiative of A.M. Borschevskiy – the dean of Physical chemistry department of Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (currently Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great), a theatre of Metallurgical faculty was formed and later was renamed as People’s theatre “Glagol” – as it is presently known to public. The main “Glagol’s difference from other theatres is that the tickets to its productions are free of charge. The theatre troupe consists of over 80 people, including students and faculty members of Polytechnic University. Over the fifty years of its existence the theatre performed in different regions of the Russian Federation as well as in European states and CIS countries. “Glagol” repertoire consists of both productions based on timeless oeuvres of Russian and foreign literature and plays inspired by modern writers of the 20th century. Additionally, the theatre welcomes all those willing to improve their acting skills to join its workshops.
