The museum is a unique memorial object, recreated in 2003–2011; it includes the mansion where Derzhavin lived, a home theatre, a greenhouse and a manor garden.

In the house of the poet (Central building) there is the Gavrila Derzhavin Estate Museum and the literary and memorial exposition of Russian literature of his time. The large double-height meeting room of the literary society Colloquy of Lovers of the Russian Word, the Straw Living Room, the Home Theatre, the Sofa living room, the poet's office, kitchens and a glacier are recreated with great accuracy. The expositions of the museum include books, manuscripts, works of fine and decorative applied art, picturesque portraits of the hosts and guests of the house.

In the Western building there is a permanent exposition “In the White Gloss of Porcelain” (items of porcelain of the late 18th-20th centuries).

Temporary exhibitions are held on the second and third floors of the East Building, presenting materials and exhibits that are not included in the permanent exhibitions.

The Gavrila Derzhavin Estate Museum hosts literary and musical evenings, scientific meetings and concert programs. In July, the museum holds an annual Festival of Russian Poetry of the 18th century.
