The house at Liteyny, 36 is forever associated with the name of one of the most famous Russian poets. Nekrasov lived in this house from 1857 until his death in 1877.

All these years, the editorial offices of two progressive and popular magazines, Sovremennik and Otechestvennye Zapiski, were located in the poet's apartment. According to P.A. Gaideburov, "the history of these rooms is the history of literary relations of an entire era, the history of Russian journalism." Nekrasov’s apartment was visited by all the best of Russian literature from the second half of the 19th century: I.S. Turgenev, L.N. Tolstoy, A.N. Ostrovsky, F.M. Dostoevsky, and others.

The memorial museum-apartment of N.A. Nekrasov was opened in 1946. In the exhibition halls, you can see portraits of the poet, made by prominent Russian artists I.N. Kramskoy and K.Y. Makovsky, as well as portraits and photographs of his famous contemporaries.

Of particular value is a collection of personal belongings, drafts and final versions of manuscripts of poetry, and poems, complemented by illustrations created by famous Russian artists during the life of N.A. Nekrasov.

The "Panaev's Half" presents materials that tell about one of the most prominent representatives of Russian literature, I.I. Panaev.
