Federal institution established to support young academic musicians

The St. Petersburg House of Music was established in 2006 on the initiative of the National Artist of Russia, conductor Sergei Roldugin with the support of the Ministry of Culture. The House of Music is located in the former palace of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich, brother of Emperor Alexander III. The building was created in 1885 to the project of architect Maximilian Mesmacher. The largest and most beautiful room of the palace - the Alexander Hall - has become a concert hall of the House of Music since 2011.  The doors of the hall are decorated with carvings, and there is a plafond with stucco molding and lion masks on the ceiling. The House of Music was established to support academic musicians aged 16 to 30. Concerts and master classes, open lessons and training for professional competitions are provided here for them. Anyone can come here to a classical music concert performed by young musicians. There is also an opportunity to have guided group tours through the main halls of the Alekseevsky Palace.
