Family theatre of chamber opera

Beautifully decorated building of the theatre is rightfully considered to be the architectural monument of St. Petersburg. The musical theatre for children and their parents was established in 1987 by the opera director and people’s artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Petrov and conductor Pavel Bubelnikov. The theatre immediately won the love of the audience.


Theatrical productions of “Zazerkalie” are aimed at introducing people of all ages to the culture of opera and world literature. On the stage of the theatre one can see the productions based on beloved children’s books (“Cinderella”, “Robinson Crusoe”, “The Little Mermaid”), as well as opera masterpieces for the older audience (“Eugene Onegin” composed by P. I. Tchaikovsky, “Carmen” composed by G. Bizet). As part of the active work with the audience, the theatre holds various events and organizes some projects: series of educational theatrical and musical subscriptions, Art-club “Three Oranges” for young residents of St. Petersburg, excursions and entertainment activities. The theatre “Zazerkalie” is the winner of numerous awards.
