State Chamber Music Theatre ‘Saint Petersburg Opera’
33, Galernaya street
St. Petersburg theatre with a unique musical program
The ‘St. Petersburg Opera’ was founded in 1987, its creator and artistic director is Yuri Alexandrov. Here one can listen to works of classical genres and modern musical pieces collected around the world. The director considers actors and their personalities to be the main value of the theatre.
The ‘St. Petersburg Opera’ is known in the cities of Russia and in many countries of the world. Its productions become laureates of theatre awards nearly every year.
The history of the building where the theatre is now located is noteworthy. For the first 10 years, the St. Petersburg Opera did not have a permanent home and performed on the stages of other theatres. But in 1998, it was given a building in which the atmosphere of art had reigned since the end of the XIX century (at one time it accommodated the halls of ‘Fairy Tales’ and ‘Houses of Interludes’ theatres).
