The first professional puppet theatre in Russia
The Puppet theatre was created in 1918 by the group of Petrograd artists. In 1930 the puppet theatre united with the theatre of E. S. Demmeni. E. S. Demmeni ran the theatre for several decades.
The theatre building, which is located on Nevsky Prospect, has a rich history and maintains the cultural value. At the theatre the audience of all ages can enjoy the Puppet Masters’ skills and learn more about various types of theatrical art. The repertoire includes performances of different genres, based on the works of authors from all over the world. Over the years of the theatre's existence, a unique collection of theatrical puppets has been formed – the works of sculptors, folk puppet makers, wood carvers. In 2018, the theatre celebrated its 100th anniversary.
