A memorial plaque on the wall of a house on Razyezzhaya Street near the legendary “Five Corners” commemorates the remarkable Russian writer Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin, who lived here at the beginning of the XX century.

His wife Maria Karlovna was involved in publishing the magazine "World of God", and then the weekly "Modern World". Ivan Bunin was a frequent guest here. In discussions on literary topics, young writers sought their own path and style. Bunin often attended performances at the Mariinsky and Alexandrinsky theaters with hospitable hosts, and was a regular at bookstores on Nevsky Prospect.
