Monument to polar explorers on Vasilievsky Island

The sculptural composition is placed on a white granite pedestal. The inscription is carved into the stone: "To those who went first, to those who are going now, to those who are yet to go."
The monument to people of a very important and dangerous profession in St. Petersburg near the building of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of Roshydromet became the first monument in Russia dedicated to all Russian polar explorers of the past, present and future.
