The first embankment in St.Petersburg

It was here in 1703 that a small wooden palace was built for Peter I. This structure, which has survived to this day, is called the Cabin of Peter I. Next to the first royal palace in St. Petersburg were the houses of Peter's associates - J. Bruce, M. Gagarin and others, but these buildings have not survived to this day. Near the Cabin of Peter I was also the first St. Petersburg port, which was later transferred to the spit of Vasilievsky Island, and then to Gutuevsky Island.

In 1907, sculptures of mythological Chinese lion-dogs, known as "Chinese frogs", were installed on the site of the first St. Petersburg pier. They were brought to St. Petersburg from the city of Girin in Manchuria. These statues, which are called shi-tsza in China, were brought to the city and installed on Petrovskaya Embankment.

A notable building on Petrovskaya Embankment is the palace of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich, built in 1910 according to the design of the architect A. Khrenov. Since 1985, it has housed a wedding palace, famous for its festive and elegant interiors.

The cruiser Aurora is located at the intersection of Petrovskaya and Petrogradskaya embankments. The Aurora was moored in this place, known as the "small Strelka", on November 17, 1948. The symbol of the 1917 revolution has become a branch of the naval museum, the exposition of which introduces the century-long history of the most legendary cruiser and Russian naval technology of the early XX century.
