The building, executed in the classical style, is now a residential building

The house was built at the end of the 18th century, later the building was expanded, and in the 1910s it was partially rebuilt. The building is an architectural landmark in the classical style.


The Russian Literary Society was located at 33 Gorokhovaya Street. Founded in October 1879, it was originally called the Society of Lovers of the Performing Arts and was engaged in organizing performances and lectures on the theater.


Finally, in 1888 it received the name - the Russian Literary Society. The society united about sixty people, in 1888 its members were I. A. Goncharov, D. V. Grigorovich, A. N. Maikov, M. I. Pisarev, A. A. Fet, M. I. Tchaikovsky, A. N. Pleshcheyev, A. F. Koni and many others. In 1900, the society ceased to exist.
