On October 12, 1907, the Birzhevye Vedomosti newspaper first mentioned the unique cultural and entertainment institution "Biophoneauxetofon" on Nevsky Prospekt, Building 67, where auditions of drama, opera, operetta and variety artists were held. In October 1909, the establishment became a movie theater and, changing its name, existed in this place until the 90s of the 20th century, and the revived "Khudozhestvenny" movie theater opened on November 18, 2005.
