Opening of three St. Petersburg drawbridges suspended

16 November 2020

On the night of Sunday, the navigation period for opening drawbridges on the branches of the Neva ended.

On November 15, the opening of the Kantemirovsky, Grenadersky and Sampsonievsky drawbridges was suspended. This was reported by Saint-Petersburg TV Channel with reference to the press service of the Transport Committee.

It is noted that from November 30, drawbridges on the Neva, Bolshaya Neva and Malaya Neva will also not be raised.

As emphasized in the announcement, bridges can be raised in winter. This may be needed to allow single vessels’ passage, if technically necessary, as well as in order to prevent and eliminate emergencies.
