On November 12, the winners of the competition of the Federal Agency for Tourism for grant support of projects for the development of domestic and inbound tourism were determined.
«Out of 25 projects supported and recommended by the Committee for the Development of Tourism of St. Petersburg, 15 public and business initiatives from the Northern capital have won, and this year they will be able to receive funds from the Federal budget for their implementation,» said Maxim Sokolov, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg.
St. Petersburg has once again confirmed the status of an innovative city. Out of 15 projects, 6 applications became winners in the development of useful IT solutions for travelers. Also, grant funds will receive 2 ideas aimed at creating interactive guidebooks and routes for low-mobility tourists, 2 products will be able to improve the infrastructure of water tourism in our city, 3 projects will allow to introduce new promising routes, 2 cases will solve issues with big data analytics and the development of the tourist potential of the Northern capital. The total amount of grants will be about 40 million rubles.

It should be noted that grants for tourism development are provided for the first time. The Government of the Russian Federation has allocated 1.2 billion rubles this year to implement this new support measure for tourism.
The head of the Federal Tourism Agency Zarina Doguzova said that the industry's interest in this measure of support turned out to be enormous, more than 4 thousand applications were submitted from all over the country. After checking the applications for their compliance with the requirements, 2,735 applications were admitted to the competition. The average amount of the requested grant is 2.6 million rubles. Thus, almost 6 applications applied for 1 grant. The projects were evaluated by a competition committee of more than 100 industry experts and representatives of public organizations, which identified 474 winning projects.
According to the terms of the competition, the winners must invest in their project at least 30% of their own funds, and the maximum grant amount cannot exceed 3 million rubles. The grant implementation period is six months from the date of the agreement, which must be signed by the end of this year. In St. Petersburg, monitoring of the implementation of the grant objectives will be carried out by Rostourism and the city committee for tourism development.

Kuznetsov Andrey Petrovich presented a project for the competition to create a new excursion and tourist route along the rivers and canals of St. Petersburg, which provides a new excursion and walking route in 9 languages «Vivat, Petersburg!».

Stanislav Koryakin, the director of the Great Arctic Regatta, said: «Our 4 projects were selected for funding under the grant program of the Federal Tourism Agency. They are somehow connected to each other. Therefore, they were presented as a cluster. The grants will allow creating a water eco-tourist route with a historical reconstruction «Clean water», an accommodation and educational tourism center for visitors of the Nizhne-Svirsky nature reserve «Eco Lodge» (the birds lodge), a project office for the modernization of water recreation infrastructure and spatial development of coastal territories, as well as analyzing big data in the water recreation industry to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of tourist projects. The winning projects are part of initiatives to develop the water recreation industry and coastal areas.»

Tourism makes a significant contribution to the economy of St. Petersburg. In recent years, it has been a driver of development of the city's economy and shows outrunning growth.
