On October 23, St. Petersburg hosted the 18th North-West Media Forum

Alexander Gutsan, the official Representative of the President in the Northwestern Federal District made a welcoming speech, asking media to continue to fight against the rush, spreading false information, and hype that generate anxiety in society.

The pandemic forced the organizers to transform the usual format of the Forum into online format which also got a positive feedback from participants.

Indeed, this way made it possible to expand the audience of the leading media event in the Northwest.

At the opening ceremony of the Forum, Lyubov Sovershaeva, Deputy Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, characterizing the new information reality, has also admitted the fact that the regional media have successfully adapted to unexpected difficulties and all media could survive and didn’t disappear from the information map of the North-West.

Despite the fact that pandemic situation is on the top of all news, journalists did not forget about other important topics, in particular, the development of domestic tourism.

Therefore, the nomination “Hot Tour. The best publication / broadcast, a series of publications / programs on the topic of domestic tourism”. The Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg Sergey Korneev awarded the winner and pointed, that tourism has always demonstrated its professionalism, ability to survive and helps other industries.

- Nowadays tourists travel with caution, but this caution does not prevent them from enjoying the variety of routes and resorts in Russia, in particular our macro-region, which is ready to welcome guests according to all safe measures. The interregional project "Silver Necklace of Russia" is actively developing, and its routes lead to the tourist pearls of our country and demonstrate unique monuments of history and culture, as well as natural objects of the entire North-West. The role of St. Petersburg as a travel hub for the "Silver Necklace" is growing every day, uniting rail, bus, car and water tourist routes. We are interested in that tourist could return to us and organize combined tours. In the short term, the "Silver Necklace" may become as popular as the “Golden Ring of Russia”. And, of course, tourism cannot exist without information support, media support, - says The Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg Sergey Korneev.

The winner is Anatoly Agrafenin, a journalist of the “Petersburg Diary” newspaper, for the series of reports “Specialist in the Region”, where the author introduced the readers some of not well-known facts from the life of the cities of the Leningrad Region and other regions of the country - from Kaliningrad to Pskov.

In total, about 400 works in 10 different nominations were announced for the competition this year, among which, according to the jury, there was very high competition.
