The first business tourism forum "Northern Palmira" opens in St. Petersburg

On October 22-23, 2020, St. Petersburg hosts the first St. Petersburg business travel online forum "Northern Palmira". It is organized by the "Fund for the Development of Small to Medium Businesses in St. Petersburg" - the regional operator of the center "My Business". The project is supported by the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg.

The main goals of the forum are to demonstrate the tourism potential of St. Petersburg and the regions of Russia for business owners and public, to popularize tourist locations, and to discuss government instruments of support of the tourism industry.

The program of the forum includes a number of thematic round-table discussions, where the experts will discuss the following key topics: “The tourist potential of Russian regions”, “The tourist cashback program and grants from Rostourism,“ HoReCa - problems and solutions ”,“ Transport and passenger transportation ”,“Marketing and automation in the hotel business as a driver of tourism development”, “Active and event tourism. An accessible environment for people with unlimited opportunities”, “Activity of booking services and ticket sales aggregators”, “Gastrotourism”, “Industrial and business tourism”, “Features of promotion in the travel industry “Trends and brands in the information field”, “Medical tourism” and “Digital Tourism”.

As part of the business program, the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg Sergey Korneev is going to talk about the current status of the large-scale project "New Cultural and Tourist Geography of St. Petersburg", which fully reveals the multifaceted tourist potential of the city - bright and large-scale urban events, classic and modern museum routes developed by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, trendsetting creative spaces, a large selection of river and sea cruises, a health resort cluster in the Kurortny District, gastronomic tourism and ample opportunities for combining tourist and business tourism.

Besides, the Forum will be attended by representatives of Rostourism, the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg, as well as experts from the tourism industry from Finland, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and a number of Russian regions - the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Sverdlovsk region, the Republic of Tatarstan, KhMAO-Yugra, Tyumen region, Leningrad region, Kaliningrad region, Komi Republic, Karelia Republic, Irkutsk region, Murmansk region, regions of Central Russia, regions of Eastern Siberia and the Far Eastern Federal District.

The Northern Palmira Forum is held within the framework of the national project “Small and Medium Enterprises. Support for individual entrepreneurial initiative”. It is designed to support industry participants in these challenging times, demonstrating the potential of the tourism industry for current and emerging entrepreneurs, to help choose market niches for self-employed and unemployed citizens.

The Committee for the Development of Tourism of St. Petersburg forms and implements the state policy of St. Petersburg in the field of tourism, develops priority areas of tourism in the Northern Capital, creates favorable conditions for the development of tourism in the city, and also increases the attractiveness of St. Petersburg as a major international and regional tourist, congress and business hub.

Since March 2019, a national project "Small and Medium Business and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives" has been put into action in St. Petersburg, within the framework of which an infrastructure for supporting small and medium-sized businesses, the "My Business" Center, is operating. The single governing body, the regional operator of the project is the non-profit association “Fund for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in St. Petersburg”. The Fund was established in 2015 as a legal entity of the Public Council for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses under the Governor of St. Petersburg and is implementing the order of
the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation No. 125 dated March 14, 2019.
