Yesterday late in the evening the Queen of the Night flourished in one of the greenhouses of the Botanical Garden of St. Petersburg. The unique plant annually attracts the attention of many Petersburgers and visitors, but this year, viewers could watch this rare phenomenon online. Employees of the greenhouse conducted a video broadcast in their VKontakte group.
The queen of the night is an unusual cactus, its flowers can reach almost thirty centimeters in length and width. Another interesting feature is that the buds open only once a year and only for one night. Note that for the first time this rare plant was brought to our Botanical Garden in Far Away 1823.
