The midday cannon shot from the Peter and Paul Fortress on the City Day will be fired by medical workers

On May 27, 2020, the midday cannon shot from the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress will be dedicated to the City Day - the Foundation Day of St. Petersburg.

The ceremonial signal gun shot will be performed by the chief doctors of the city medical institutions: Clinical infectious diseases hospital named after S.P. Botkin (D.A. Gusev), Hospital for war veterans (M.Yu. Kabanov), Children's city clinical Hospital No. 5 named after N.F. Filatov (L.N. Isankin), the City multi-profile hospital No. 2 (V.A. Volchkov) and the City hospital of St. George (V.V. Strizheletsky), the press service of the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg reports.

The midday shot of signal cannon from the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress is a local tradition, captured in the City Charter.

Together with the whole of Russia and the world, St. Petersburg is celebrating its 317th anniversary, in a difficult epidemiological situation, in connection with the spread of the new coronavirus infection. The medical workers currently are at the forefront of the struggle for people's lives, risking their own health. Therefore, the right of honor to fire the ceremonial shot was entrusted to the representatives of the medical community of St. Petersburg.
