During archaeological excavations, the tiles of the 17th century were discovered by archaeologists of the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Castle Island is located in Vyborg. The find was reported by Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the Leningrad Region Vladimir Tsoi.

“When George Martin arrived in Vyborg Castle, he agreed that the St. Olav’s tower is too small for dragons, but lions could be kept in its lower casemate. Unfortunately, then there were no lions in the castle. But now the lions have appeared! ” - Tsoi said on his page on the social network “VKontakte”.
