The 3-act ballet, music by Sergei Prokofiev, will be performed on the main stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre
The idea of ballet féerie on the famous fairy tale by a French writer Charles Perrault emerged in the mind of a composer Sergei Prokofiev in winter 1940. The tragic events of the war distracted the composer from creating scores for a while. But already in 1943, in Perm, where the Kirov Theatre had been evacuated, the Cinderella was completed with the direct participation of librettist Nikolai Volkov and ballet master Konstantin Sergeyev. The premiere took place in Moscow at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1945. The performance was perceived as a bright celebratory salute in honor of the Great Victory. Five months later, the Cinderella was successfully shown on the stage of the Kirov Theatre in Leningrad.
The Cinderella ballet is performed at the theater of the Conservatory, in the production of world-famous ballet master, People's Artist of the USSR, artistic director of ballet of St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Oleg Mihailovich Vinogradov. Once from the staging of this performance in the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1964, he started his artistic biography. The premiere was enthusiastically received by the audience, and the critics called Vinogradov an innovator.Performance was staged in Odessa and Budapest, Leningrad and Moscow, Dresden, and Athens.
