Building number 55 on Tchaikovsky Street, in which the hotel is located, as it is now, was built in the middle of the 19th century. Until that time, there was a wooden house. Later, in 1859-1860. the house was rebuilt into a profitable one and belonged to academician architect A.K. Kolman. Later in different years, the house was owned by the count dynasties of Muravyovs and Sheremetyevs, and then until the revolution it belonged to industrialist, chairman of the Russian-Asian Bank Alexei Putilov.
