Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library


Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library located at the very heart of Saint Petersburg is an essential object of the attention of tourists from around the world, and for the citizens - a source of pride and an exciting leisure destination.

The magnificent architectural ensemble of the Presidential Library is located in front of the Alexander Garden and Senate Square on the embankment of the Neva River. It was built in 1835 by the famous Italian artist Carlo Rossi.

On 27 May 2009 on the City Day, St. Petersburg received an unusual gift - a restored building of the Senate. Nowadays it houses a renovated  home church in honor of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils and a modern complex of the Presidential Library. The Library is the only digital library in the country and in the world. There you can read rare historical books and documents converted into a digital format.

The Presidential Library is unique library in Russia and abroad, the largest cultural and educational center. Combining historical traditions and the latest technologies, the library generates a nationwide electronic resource where books, periodicals, archival historical documents, newsreels, scientific and educational films are collected. More than a half of the funds are rare and unique.

The Library is a unique excursion object. During the excursion visitors can learn about the history and architectural features of the building, directions of activities, resources, and see the inaugural copy of the Constitution. Thematic exhibition dedicated to historical dates or persons is always held in the exhibition halls of the Presidential Library.

The movie club is another reason to visit the Presidential Library. It offers an opportunity to watch auteur movies with critics, well-known personalities and movie makers. Information about shows are regularly updated on the official website as well as in the official groups in social networks.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is strictly with passport.
