Taste to eat is a restaurant of the new Russian cuisine in the centre heart of Saint-Petersburg realizing successfully an ambitious aim – to represent unusual sight on traditional gastronomy
It’s the second OFW group restaurant by spouses Alexey Tan and Christina Vasilyeva who opened a restaurant at waterfront Regatta which has been loved by residents and guests of Krestovsky island for a long time.
The greatest attention is given to the cooking which chef Anton Abrezov is responsible for. A vast wine list lets Taste to Eat to be called an enoteca. According to the creators Taste to Eat is made “about Russian gastronomy, for Russian gastronome, in the name of Russian gastronomy”.
“Unfortunately home gastronomic traditions haven’t developed for a long time and they stay at the level of grandmother’s recipes and mother-in-law’s pancakes, and with mentioning about Russian restaurant only classical associations of bears, gypsy romances and tsars’ sturgeons are coming up. For an example our North neighbors from Scandinavia have actively developed their own food culture which hasn’t been distinguished by its stereotypes from ours. Nowadays Viking’s food is a new gastronomical trend that competes with leading world cuisines and actively spreading all over the world. There are some restaurants and chefs that are trying to fix the situation in Moscow and Saint Petersburg but there’re only a few. That’s why we made up our minds to create a new modern Russian restaurant.
