An Ice Breaker Festival in St. Petersburg

An Ice Breaker Festival is to hold in St. Petersburg on 29 and 30th April. A fest for citizens and tourists is initiated by the Committee for Tourism Development of Saint Petersburg and supported by the St. Petersburg Government, the Marine Board of the Government of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Maritime Council supported by the Government of St. Petersburg.

 

The festival is dedicated to the achievements and power of the icebreaking industry of our country, and the idea that St. Petersburg is the sea capital of Russia.

Shipbuilding plants and design bureaus, sea and naval universities, Arctic and northern maritime regions, naval museums and libraries, tourism industry representatives, public youth, veteran and environmental organizations will take place in that festival.

The visitors could see a great variety of exhibitions and entertainment performances; a wide range of competitive, cultural and educational programs, film screenings, as well as shows and concerts.
A festival’s schedule:
April, 29 (Saturday). This day will be devoted to the icebreaker fleet, sailors, travelling and Northern seas. On the agenda: performances of representatives of the Northern, polar, marine regions of Russia and the countries-guests of the ice-breakers festival.
11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Interactive festival’s platforms, concert programs, a visit of  ice-breakers.
12 noon – a festival opening ceremony
Parade in the waters of the Big River Neva (Bolshaya Neva).
April, 30 (Sunday). A program is devoted to Saint-Petersburg Day. A concert program is dedicated to the city as a port and to the place, where ice-breakers are designed and built, naval science is developed and the marine legacy is kept. It is all about a Northern Capital of  Russia.
11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Interactive festival’s platforms, concert programs, a visit of  ice-breakers.
From 6 p.m. A tow dance in the waters of the Big River Neva (Bolshaya Neva).
From 6.30 p.m. The solemn departure of  icebreakers from the quays.
A closing ceremony of IV Ice-breaker Festival.
A free entrance.
