Since the day of its foundation Saint Petersburg has been not only a capital city, but also a unique trendsetter for culture, architecture, and the art of fine dining. Most famous and talented European experts of previous times brought their best traditions and gastronomic techniques to Saint Petersburg. The best French, Italian, and German chefs used creative approaches to process centuries-old recipes of Russian cuisine, which enriched many traditional Russian dishes with an exquisite European tone. Later on, influence of Saint Petersburg cuisine started to spread throughout the whole Russia lending variety to gastronomic traditions of different regions of the country.
Today the world of Saint Petersburg’s fine dining is still one of the most interesting in Russia. The history, traditions, culinary experiments, influence of large European chefs – all these factors set up a combination of unique structures and quality, a mosaic of tastes and styles.
From 1 till 30 November 2016 the first-ever Saint Petersburg Restaurant Festival will take place in the City on the Neva.
