In total, 31558 applications were registered on the 6 June in 11 cities hosting 2018 FIFA World Cup. ‘I must say, initial results for applications from prospective World Cup volunteers are a pleasant surprise. It is a sure sign of high interest in the tournament on the part of active population of our country. Also it’s a clear indication that volunteering in Russia has really risen to a new level,’ commented Russia’s Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko.
Recruitment of volunteers will run till the end of 2016. Organizers are planning to involve about 20 thousand volunteers for 2018 FIFA World Cup, which means many candidates have a good opportunity to participate in this historic event. Note that applications can be filed on the FIFA website. Registration is open to everyone regardless sex, nationality and physical abilities. There is only one requirement: candidates applying for participation in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup must be at least 18 years old by the 10 May 2017, and those who would like to volunteer for 2018 FIFA World Cup ™, must be at least 18 years old by the 10 May 2018.
