“The EURO 2020 ticket programme has broken all records. The demand reached 28.3 million tickets. This is twice as much as before EURO 2016,” the UEFA official website says.
It is clarified that the ticket sales were divided into two phases. During the sale for the general public, held from June 12 to July 12, applications for 19.3 million tickets were submitted. During the second phase, when the sale was for fans of the teams that passed, from December 4 to 18, applications for 9 million tickets were left.
During the last phase, three times more requests were submitted compared to the same period before the EURO 2016 in France. In total, 28.3 million tickets were requested, and it is twice more than the previous result.
This demand is associated with a unique form of the tournament: on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first European Championship, the tournament in 2020 will be held in 12 major European cities, including St. Petersburg.
