New Year celebration in St. Petersburg programme

The festivities will start on December 21.

On Saturday, December 21, St. Petersburg will start to celebrate the beginning of the upcoming year. This day, the All-Russian Ded Moroz, the New Year’s wizard, will arrive at the Palace Square. The photo zone will be opened at 4 p.m., and the public will get an opportunity to enjoy the main festive programme of the day an hour after. Ded Moroz will ride around the square at 5.30 p.m. He will wish to the crowd all the best in the upcoming holidays and the year 2020.

On December 31, the biggest celebrations will be held in the same place, on the Palace square. From 10 to 11 p.m. citizens and tourists will see the cartoons and films. Then the concert will start. The break on watching the president and the governour New Year congratulations will occur at midnight. 

A festive firework will be launched from the Peter and Paul Fortress at 3 a.m. Officially the celebration ends at 4 a.m. We remind you that St. Petersburg underground will work to 5 a.m.

It should be noted that Nevsky Prospect will traditionally become a pedestrian. Festivities could be found on 22-24 and 28 Malaya Konushennaya street as well as on 35 Nevsky Prospect. On the first address, the events will be held from 11 p.m to 4 a.m. On the second it would be possible to take colourfull photos in the special zone and watch the animator’s show from 10 p.m.
