8 million tourists this year in Petersburg

On May 21, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko told the news agencies about the upcoming St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and about the 315th anniversary of a city. Also, the Governor said a few words about the theme of tourism.

"This year, the fans will give us an additional 400 thousand tourists. Taking into account the fact that last year St. Petersburg hosted 7.5 million tourists, we plan to reach the level of 8 million”, Georgy Poltavchenko said.

Governor noted that football World Cup this summer will have a serious impact on the amount of tourist in the future. The main effect will be seen in 2019-2020 and beyond.

"We hope that everyone who comes to the World Cup matches from other regions of Russia and other countries will appreciate the beauty of Petersburg and return here later with friends and relatives," the Governor said.
