On 1 March a press conference of the public organization "In Wheelchairs without Barriers" took place at the Writer's Bookstore. It was dedicated to a start of the process of accepting applications for participation in the1st "World Accessible To All" International exhibition-forum and the «Nevskaya Krasa-2018 " international competition of beauty and talent among girls in wheelchairs. Both events will be held at the Expoforum in September 2018 (The forum-exhibition – from 12 to 14 September, the beauty contest – from September 10 to 14).
The competition will be held for the 3rd time, but the 1st time with international participation. The project was supported by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Hungarian People's Republic, the United States of America, Japan and by Representative Office of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation in St. Petersburg.
Since the Forum and Competition are planned to be held in the city of St. Petersburg, which is considered to be one of the largest tourism centers of global significance, the primary task of the organizers is to create all conditions for guests to get acquainted with the city and tell about it at home. City Tourist Information Bureau of St. Petersburg in turn developed a special route for limited mobility tourists.
The task of the Forum-exhibition is to connect all the parties of the process: society, authorities and business so that in this dialogue the business party can see the new opportunities for development.
This year those ladies who uses wheelchair between the ages of 20 and 35 are invited to take part in the contest. Acceptance of applications is carried out by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and is conducted in Russian and English languages from 01.03.2018 to 12.04.2018.
Also, within the framework of the Forum-exhibition and Contest the visitors are invited to see a rich cultural and leisure programme, because many interesting and famous people are especially interested to participate in this event.
Today, active work is underway to improve the accessibility of the city, and it is important to show that there are a lot of active people with disabilities. Such contests are necessary for people to understand: life is beautiful, despite the fact that they are faced with such a situation that they have to move around sitting in a wheelchair.
