The anniversary of the blockade was celebrated by the citizens of St. Petersburg

On September 8, 1941, German troops captured the city. In memory of this terrible date in St. Petersburg organizes a march "Immortal Regiment" and amazing concert on Palace Square dedicated to the veterans who became the main characters and heroes of the Great Patriotic War. 

It is expected that more than 2,500 city residents will participate in the march. In connection with this significant event the traffic in the center will not be allowed. 

From early morning flowers will be laid on the memorable nameplates of Nevsky Prospekt. Mourning ceremonies will be held at all the memorial cemeteries of the city. A day that changed the lives of millions of petersburgers, day in which the four-year hunger, cold and countless deaths began will always be remembered in thecultural capital.
