This summer brought a new project by Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturism) – road show "The Alliance of Hospitable Cities", telling about the potential of cities in Russia, where the FIFA World Cup will be held. The project involves a visit to three European Destinations in the second half of 2017: Rostock in Germany, Paris in France and the capital of the United Kingdom, London. In addition to the business programme, an exhibition on the main football events is organized, as well as photo shoot with Russian football stars, and also tastings of traditional Russian cuisine together with creative group performances.
This pilot event was attended by representatives of the departments and committees responsible for tourism in the host cities of FIFA World Cup, representatives of companies and tour operators, as well as transport companies, which include river cruises on their list of services. The speakers presented tourist potential of the city organizers of the football competition to European guests, football fans and the mass-media.
St. Petersburg, a metropolis, which successfully held the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and will held the forthcoming World Championship next year, was presented by Alevtina Gutorova, Deputy Director of Saint Petersburg City Tourist Information Bureau. Participants were informed about the preparations for the football competition and the development of infrastructure in St. Petersburg for international fans. The Northern Capital is interested to hold the expected Championship in Saint Petersburg at the highest level.
By the way, during the road show special attention was given to the Kruzenshtern ship: the legendary ship was decorated by symbols of the World Cup 2018.
