This is the third time that the Saint Petersburg Restaurant Festival will be held this autumn in Russia's Northern Capital under the auspices of St. Petersburg Committee on Tourism Development. Following on from the results, Top 100 St. Petersburg Best Restaurants Award will be presented.
A unique award was presented by Stanislav Smirnov, a member of organizing committee of the Saint Petersburg Restaurant Festival. According to him, within the framework of the 3rd Restaurant Festival, it is planned to gather a council of 100 experts, who will decide, which gastronomic places of the Northern Capital are the best. The council will include restaurateurs, chefs and journalists writing about the restaurant culture of St. Petersburg. In addition to the city specialists, partners from Finland, Viisi Tahtea, who are the experts in the White Guide Nordic – a prestigious award, which is more honorable than the Michelin Red Guide in the Scandinavian countries, are also involved in the preparation of the award.
"Thus, the most objective methodology for determining the best gastronomic places of Petersburg will be developed," said Stanislav Smirnov.
Apart from the award "Top 100 restaurants of St. Petersburg" within the framework of the 3rd Restaurant Festival, it is planned to select the top 10 chefs of St. Petersburg, as well as to reward those journalists who write about the gastronomic culture of the city on the Neva. It is well known that restaurants of Saint Petersburg can take part in the festival absolutely free. For this purpose it is enough to apply to the organizing committee of the Festival.
According to the adviser to the Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee on Tourism Development Galina Gromova, a large number of events are organized in St. Petersburg in spring and autumn to attract tourists to the city. The 1st and 2nd Restaurant Festivals have become such events that provided an opportunity for foreign and Russian tourists to taste the best of Petersburg's cuisine at an affordable price. It is important that Top 100 St. Petersburg Restaurants Award will help foreign tourists to be better oriented in the gastronomic offers of the Northern Capital.
