The museum possess a collection, dedicated to works and cultural experience of famous Roerich family
Saint Petersburg State Roerich Family Museum and Institute occupies a mansion built according to the project of architects J. B. Leblond and D. Tresini and known as a house of artist and collector Mikhail Botkin, who bought it in 1883 and installed a unique collection of art here. The fact that collection comprised lots of pieces of antique and renaissance art and dozens of Alexander Ivanov’s works contributed to its fame of «museum house».
The collection of Museum and Institute basically includes items kept by Helena Roerich’s niece Lyudmila Mitusova. It is being enriched with collectors’ gifts and materials of research conducted by Museum and Institute as it acts as a center for study of creative heritage of Roerich family as well. Surveys in different fields such as history, archaeology, culturology and art history are carried out by Museum employees.
As premises of the Museum and Institute are currently under restoration the display is partially formed by temporary exhibitions which cover different aspects of work of Roerich family and wide range of related themes.

Thursday - Sunday: 11:00 - 18:00
The museum is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and last Thursday of each month. A free guided tour starts on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
