Concerts from the cycle "Music Thursdays in Stroganov palace" take place in the unique interior keeping original decoration created by F. Rastrelli
The fifth jazz concert from the cycle "Music Thursdays in Stroganov Palace" will take place on September 17 at 7 p.m. Famous St. Petersburg musicians will play in the Big dance hall. Among them: brilliant pianist, jazzman Sergey Tarusin, contrabass player Grigory Voskoboynik, drummer Gary Bagdasaryan and young singer Christina Kovalyova.
The ensemble will play classical jazz standards of John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin's Cola, Count Basie's orchestra. Body and Soul, My Favorite Things, Close Your Eyes, Lover Man, You Go To My Head, Bouncing With Bud, Come On Home, All Or Nothing At All.
The choice of the the baroque Big hall of the Stroganv palace can be explained because if the fact that it is the unique interior in St. Petersburg keeping the original decoration executed by Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. In the second half of the XVIII century it was a place where the Russian cultural beau monde, and the count Alexander Sergeyevich Stroganov, the largest expert in European art, an outstanding patron of that time, president of Academy of Arts, who gathered the richest collections of books, West European and Russian painting, numismatics and minerals which drew attention of judges of art.
Musical evenings of the Russian Museum - it is not only an attempt to revive traditions of saloon culture, but also an opportunity for guests and residents of St. Petersburg to visit one of the most beautiful palaces of our city.
