To the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

The State Museum of Political History of Russia carries on the tradition of showing repository collections to significant historical dates.

“Remembering the war...” shows visitors the rare, previously unpublished photos of famous photographers: Y. Khalip, I. Fetisov, A. Avilova, and also the photos from the personal archives of veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

There is a kaleidoscope of scenes, people and events of those years on the photos, and in memory as well. Here is a peaceful summer Leningrad, and here’s people's militia gathering. The photos from museum show the student of Leningrad Special Air Force School; the soviet spy, who worked in the schools of the Abwehr; a group of mountain-climbers, who dropped the German flags and hoisted above Elbrus the Soviet flag instead; the “sons of regiments” of the Leningrad Front; Women's team of fitters and priests who were awarded the medals “For the defense of Moscow”. The exhibition also shows the photos of destroyed Reichstag, and the Victory of the Soviet marshals and Commanders in Chief of the four Allied states: the USSR, the USA, UK and France, arrived June 5, 1945 in Berlin to attend the ceremony of signing the “Declaration regarding the defeat of Germany...”.
