On June 14, 1942 the routing of pipes on the bottom of Ladoga lake was finished
In 1942 50 km of pipes were laid through the bottom of the Ladoga lake (21 km of pipes were routed under water). This allowed transporting fuel to the besieged city — about 300-350 te per day. The work was done under enemy's fire, in a very short amount of time (only 50 days) and so discreetly, that the enemy never realised the pipage existed. The pipage worked until the lifting of the Siege.
