On May 2, 1951 the Military and Historical Museum of Alexander Suvorov was reopened after reconstruction
On this day the museum was reopened after a large-scale restoration. The museum's building was put up in 1904 by the order of Nicolas II. It holds more than 100 000 exhibition items: original belongings, weapons and decorations of the last generalissimo, military flags, a unique collection of portraits of Russian military men, and belongings of Paul I and the Empress Maria Fyodorovna.
