lots of Anton Chekhov’s plays are combined in the performance of “Osobnyak” theatre. The experiment will be presented on the Forum
“The seagull upon the cherry garden” is an adaptation of the main “Osobnyak” director Julia Panina. It has three Chekhov’s works as a basis: “Seagull”, “Cherry Garden”, “Uncle Vanya”. Postmodern move and tender performing of actors’ ensemble are the main points of this performance. “We discover and accept these characters, so near and dear, we insert them in the orbit of our feelings… Why are we so hypnotized while following Chekhov’s characters flowing one into another?”
Chekhov put his characters into limited space, he locks them up not physically but internally. He dissects their souls. Doesn’t really matter what surname does a character have – Astrov, Gaev, Zarechnaya or Ranevskaya… “We are surrounded by weirdos” – and nothing has ever changed for the past 100 years. Script for a small story. Or a short performance.
