On February 26, 1719 the Kunstkamera, the first museum in Russia, opened in St. Petersburg
The Kunstkamera was established by Peter the Great, and now the Kunstkamera Building hosts the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography. The unique collection includes historical rarities from differents ages and countries. This museum is well-known for the exhibition of human and animal fetuses with anatomical deficiencies from the personal collection of Peter the Great.
