A large-scale exhibition introduces a theatrical anthology of Mihail Chemiakin’s works for the ballets The Nutcracker, The Magic Nut, Metaphysical, The Meek One, The Rite of Spring, Coppelia.
The sketches of costumes, masks and props created by the artist for the Mariinsky Theatre and national ballet and opera theatres in Vilnus and Sofia give visitors the unique opportunity not only to enjoy the theatrical extravaganza but also to dip in the working process. Every sketch is an accomplished image which gives you the idea of a character’s costume and reveals his temper and even the plastique. The ballet The Nutcracker became the artist’s trademark.
Exhibition “Artist and Theatre” was introduced for the first time in Mihail Chemiakin Foundation in 2014, and then it was shown in Saratov and Chelyabinsk. In the Theatre Museum you can find a number of new exhibits. The core one is a sculptural series of porcelain The Nutcracker created at Imperial Porcelain Manufactory and exclusive jewelry collection, Christmas decorations and stone-cutting miniature of Jewelry House Sasonko.
