January 27, 1943 is the day when the siege of Leningrad was completely lifted
The «Iskra» offenive became a turning point in the battle for Leningrad. The enemy's forces were pushed back from the southern coast of Lake Ladoga. Through this operaton the Red Army managed to take the leading role in the area. This victory was celebrated on the evening of January 27 with a salute – 24 volleys from 324 pieces of ordnance.
