On January 26, 1924 Petrograd was renamed to Leningrad

 

Saint Petersburg was renamed to Petrograd by Nicholas II during the World War I, and Petrograd was renamed to Leningrad by the resolution of the Second Congress of Soviets of the Soviet Union following the death of Vladimir Lenin.
