The exhibiton at the State Hermitage Museum wil last from May 31, 2017 till September 3, 2017
In May 2017, the first personal exhibition of German artist Anselm Kiefer will open in the Hermitage.
Anselm Kiefer is an artist inclined to a profound and multifaceted intellectual reflection. In his works he addresses the themes of history, religion, literature, philosophy, images of memory, and heritage.
In 2016, Anselm Kiefer, inspired by a visit to St. Petersburg, created a new exhibition project specially for the Hermitage. In the three-part space of the grandiose Nikolaevsky Hall, equipped for the exhibition, Kiefer plans to place paintings dedicated to the Russian futurist poet, the experimentalist of word creation Velimir Khlebnikov (1885-1922).
The Anselm Kiefer to Velimir Khlebnikov exhibition is a picturesque ode to the sad beauty of rusting ships, once filling people with fear, and now abandoned by their creators on the very edge of the earth.
